The Original Housemuseum
The original Housemuseum at 219 Cotham Road is the private residence of founding patrons Corbett and Yueji Lyon and is open for pre-booked tours on designated days each year.
It offers a unique combination of family residence and private museum where 'museum' and 'living' are brought together in a single building. In 2010, Larry's List named the original Housemuseum 'one of the world's 10 most exciting buildings of private museums'.
Designed by architect Corbett Lyon, the Housemuseum builds on a lineage of private art collections housed and displayed in residential settings including Sir John Soane’s Museum in London, New York’s Frick Collection, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and London's Wallace Collection.

New Public Housemuseum Galleries
Offering a new platform for works of contemporary art, architecture and design, the new public Housemuseum Galleries are a major expansion of the Lyon Housemuseum. Opened in March 2019, the new Galleries offer a series of contemporary spaces where national and international exhibitions of art, architecture and design are presented.
Also designed by Lyon, the new Galleries include large, flexible exhibition spaces specifically designed for large scale artworks and installations.
Featuring a 5.5 metre high ceiling, the central gallery space is surrounded by four peripheral galleries, each presenting a different character and aspect. A public forecourt and enclosed sculpture court extend the new museum beyond its walls.
